Best Infrared Mats for Home Use (2026): Amethyst, Mini, and PEMF Combos

HeatBy Kove Longevity

Best infrared mats by the job: full-size amethyst, the best mini far infrared mat, PEMF combinations, and folding pads, with real specs and prices.

Woman stretching on the BioMat Pro amethyst infrared mat at home

The best infrared mat for most homes is the BioMat Pro, $2,150: 19 lb of amethyst and tourmaline, FDA 510(k) clearance, and a 3-year warranty. The best mini far infrared amethyst mat is the BioMat Mini, $850. If you want PEMF and red light in the same surface, the HEALiX Revive, $1,099.99, is the pick.

This is the buyer's guide for the infrared mats at Kove, sorted by the job each one does best. What an infrared mat is and what the crystal layer actually does is covered in infrared mats explained; this page assumes you want one and gets to the choosing. Every number is the manufacturer's published spec. Prices as of October 2026; the product page is the source of truth.

How we chose

Five things: crystal weight, because a heavy mineral layer heats slowly and evenly while a thin one is a heating pad with a story; temperature range and step size, because the low settings are the ones you will use most; EMF shielding, because you lie on a powered surface for an hour; regulatory status, because a 510(k) clearance pins the label to specific uses; and what else is built in, since PEMF and red light are separate categories with separate evidence.

Best full-size amethyst mat: BioMat Pro

BioMat Pro, $2,150. A 27.5 by 74 inch, 24 lb mat with 19 lb of crystal, half amethyst and half black tourmaline, in 17 layers: four heat levels from 95 to 158 °F, far infrared at 6 to 12 micron, Intertek-tested EMF shielding, a digital controller with a timer, and a waterproof cover in the box. It is FDA 510(k) cleared, Class II (K072534), which covers temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, relaxation of muscles, and a temporary increase in local circulation where applied, and nothing wider; cleared is not approved, as what FDA clearance means explains. The 3-year limited warranty comes with lifetime trade-in and post-warranty repair programs. The long version is the BioMat Pro review.

Best mini far infrared amethyst mat: BioMat Mini

BioMat Mini, $850. The same construction at 20 by 33 inches and about 8 lb, with 6 lb of amethyst and tourmaline, four heat levels from 104 to 158 °F, far infrared at 6 to 12 micron, EMF shielding, and a digital controller with a timer. The germanium waterproof cover and a cotton cover are included, and its spec sheet lists the same K072534 clearance. It is the mat for a desk chair, a lower back, or a suitcase; the BioMat Pro + Mini bundle, $2,700, is the way to own one for the floor and one for the chair.

Best PEMF and infrared combination: HEALiX Revive

HEALiX Revive, $1,099.99. A 31.5 by 75 inch mat at 34 lb that runs three things at once: far infrared heat from 77 to 156 °F in 2-degree steps through an amethyst, marble, and clay layer; PEMF at 1 to 50 Hz and 300 microtesla with 14 presets; and 660 nm red light from 36 LEDs, on a zero-EMF Faraday-shielded heating layer, with a 2-year warranty. It trades crystal mass for two extra categories, the right trade when you want one purchase and one evening habit. The HEALiX Revive Mini, $599.99, is the same three layers at 39 by 19.5 inches and 12.5 lb, for a chair or a yoga mat. How their PEMF compares with dedicated systems is in the PEMF mat buying guide.

Best folding pad for targeted heat: TheraPro Recovery Pad

TheraPro Recovery Pad, Regular, $597, and Large, $999. Technically pads, but they run full-spectrum infrared through a five-gemstone layer at 86 to 158 °F, add 9 PEMF programs from 3 to 64 Hz, 663 nm red light, and TENS, and fold for travel. The Regular is 33.5 by 18.5 inches and 9 lb; the Large is 58.5 by 26 inches and 24 lb. A 1 to 12 hour heat timer makes them the pick for a knee, a lower back, or a long low session on the sofa. 1-year warranty.

What does the research say about far infrared heat?

Far infrared applied to the body is studied as a form of local heat. A 2012 review by Vatansever and Hamblin in Photonics and Lasers in Medicine summarized the evidence: far infrared raises tissue temperature, increases local blood flow, and relaxes muscle, with the strongest data where a warm compress would also help. A 2017 review by Tsai and Hamblin in the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B noted that any mechanism beyond heat is still debated. The BioMat's K072534 clearance is the regulatory version of the same point: heating-pad type uses, nothing wider. The crystals are the medium; tourmaline's negative ions have no established health meaning at these levels. Combination mats borrow the separate PEMF evidence base. Nothing here treats a condition. Kove does not provide medical advice; see the medical disclaimer.

Which infrared mat should you buy?

  • Full body, pure far infrared, the cleared device: BioMat Pro.
  • Chair, desk, travel, or a first mat under $1,000: BioMat Mini.
  • Heat plus PEMF plus red light in one full-size surface: HEALiX Revive.
  • A folding pad for one joint or a long low session: TheraPro Recovery Pad.

Infrared mats may be HSA/FSA eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity through Truemed, decided per order at checkout; details on the HSA and FSA page. Every mat ships free in the US with a 60-day return window and a prepaid label.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best infrared mat?

For most homes the BioMat Pro at $2,150: 19 lb of amethyst and tourmaline, 95 to 158 °F, tested EMF shielding, and a 510(k) clearance for heating-pad type uses. If you also want PEMF and red light in the same mat, the HEALiX Revive at $1,099.99 is the better buy.

What is the best mini far infrared amethyst mat?

The BioMat Mini at $850. It is 20 by 33 inches, about 8 lb, with 6 lb of amethyst and tourmaline, four heat levels from 104 to 158 °F, EMF shielding, and a waterproof germanium cover included. It fits a chair, a lower back, or a carry-on.

Is an amethyst mat worth it?

Amethyst is a cheap, even-heating medium for far infrared, and a heavy crystal layer heats more evenly than a thin one; the gemstone itself carries no established effect beyond that. Judge the mat by crystal weight, temperature range, and shielding.

Infrared mat or PEMF mat?

An infrared mat gives warmth you can feel; a PEMF mat sends pulses you cannot. The HEALiX Revive and TheraPro pads do both. If heat is what will get you onto the mat every evening, start with heat; the mechanisms are compared in PEMF versus infrared mat.

Is the BioMat FDA approved?

No infrared mat is FDA approved. The BioMat Pro is FDA 510(k) cleared, Class II, under K072534, which covers temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, muscle relaxation, and a temporary increase in local circulation. Cleared and approved are different statuses.

The infrared mat picks in brief

BioMat Pro for the full-size cleared mat, BioMat Mini for the chair and the suitcase, HEALiX Revive when you want PEMF and red light in the same surface, a TheraPro pad when the target is one joint. Read crystal weight, temperature range, and shielding before the stone's name. Everything in the infrared mat collection carries the Price Beat guarantee.
