The BioMat Mini is built like the full-size mats: an electric element under a bed of natural amethyst and black tourmaline that converts heat into far infrared between 6 and 12 microns. That warmth goes into the body resting on it, not the air around it. At 20 by 33 inches and about 8 lb, it moves from office chair to suitcase, so the warmth goes where your day goes.

The BioMat Mini brings far-infrared amethyst heat into a portable size. Same mechanism as the Pro, far-infrared warmth delivered through an amethyst layer, in a mat small enough for a chair, a desk, or travel. Place it where you sit, or use it on a specific area of the body.
It is the simplest way to add daily radiant warmth to your routine without committing the space of a full mat. The radiant heat helps you relax wherever you set it. Like the Pro, it now includes a germanium waterproof cover ($120 value). Part of the Restore layer of the Kove stack.

Not decoration. The heating element never touches you; it sits under a bed of natural amethyst and black tourmaline. Stone spreads heat more evenly than wire, so the surface warms without hot spots, and as the stone warms it re-radiates that heat as far infrared. The crystals are the part that turns electric heat into the warmth the mat is built around.

What you are paying for
Why this is not a heated mat
Amethyst-topped infrared mats turn up online for a few hundred dollars, and they can look much the same in a photograph. The differences sit in the layers you cannot see, and in what happens after the sale.
Stone, and how much of it
The Pro carries 19 lb of natural amethyst and black tourmaline, half and half, over the heating element, built up in seventeen layers so the surface warms evenly rather than in warm spots over the coils. The stone is the part doing the work, so how much of it is in the mat is not a cosmetic detail.
Independently tested shielding
EMF shielding is built into the construction and tested by Intertek, an outside laboratory. On something you lie on for an hour at a time, that testing is worth having on record.
Cleared, not just registered
Two phrases turn up on infrared mat listings. FDA registered means a company has its facility and product on file with the FDA. FDA cleared means the device itself went through a 510(k) review. The professional mat is the second: FDA 510(k) cleared, Class II, under K072534.
Serviced, not replaced

I have had the biomat professional at my office for many years and wanted to bring the healing benefits home. Now rather than staying late at the office for some time to wind down after the day, I can come home and do that at home. And, my husband now gets the benefits as well. He works in a warehouse and in the winters has hard time getting warm after he gets home, now he spends some time on the biomat and is able to get warm and he has had less back pain/discomfort since using it.

So relaxing
The bio mat is very good and then they put it inside a case that isn't the good. I'm thinking that anyone that would carry place to place, you'll probably want to purchase a better quality container for the expensive mat. The professional bio mat has a case that is similar but just enough not to be a problem at first. I traveled with the professional mat and only was concerned about, what happens when the zipper case fails? Don't get me wrong, the equipment minus the cases are very good. The strap broke off of the bio mat case maybe 4 hours after taking out of the box it was shipped in. So you can realize the surprise after spending the kind of money it costs?
It has really been a game changer during the stressful holiday season! I used it when I needed a break from cleaning, decorating and wrapping gifts!!
