Frozin 400 Review: Size, Setup, and Who It Fits

ColdBy Kove Longevity

An honest look at the Frozin 400 cold plunge tub: the size inside and out, how the foam insulation holds the cold on ice or a chiller, setup and upkeep, tub only versus the complete system, and who should buy something else.

The Frozin 400 is a rigid, foam insulated cold plunge tub made in the USA. What the Frozin 400 is

Most home cold plunges fall into three groups: inflatable tubs that pack away, uninsulated barrels and stock tanks, and rigid insulated tubs built to stay set up. The Frozin 400 is the third kind. Its shell is roto molded, which means it is formed in one seamless piece, and the walls, lip, and lid are filled with foam. That foam is the whole point. Cold water warms up because heat leaks in through the walls and the top, and every hour the water holds its temperature is an hour of ice or chiller work you do not pay for.

Size: will it fit you, and will it fit your space?

Inside, the tub is sized for adults up to 6 feet 3 inches and 300 pounds, so most people can sit with their legs out and their shoulders under the water. Outside, it takes a footprint of 48 by 28 inches and stands 28 inches tall, about the size of a loveseat's seat cushion. Plan for the weight when full, not empty. One hundred gallons of water weighs about 834 pounds, so the filled tub is roughly 925 pounds before anyone gets in. A garage slab, patio, or ground floor is the easy place for it; an upper floor or deck is worth checking with someone who knows the structure.

Ice or a chiller: how it holds the cold

The tub works two ways. With ice, the insulation slows the melt, so the water stays cold longer than in a barrel or inflatable and you haul fewer bags. With a chiller, you set a temperature and hold it every session with no ice at all. The two 3/4 inch ports ship capped, so starting with ice costs nothing later: when you are ready, remove the caps and connect a chiller. The Frozin Chiller covers 37 to 60 °F with digital control, and the Frozin Filtration System adds a pump, filter, and strainer to keep the water clear between changes.

How long the water stays cold on ice depends on your climate, the starting temperature, how often you open the lid, and whether the tub sits in sun or shade. Keep the lid latched between sessions; the lid is where a lot of heat gets in.

Setup and upkeep

There is no plumbing. Put the tub where it will live, install the drain plug and the latches, and fill it with a hose. The box includes the insulated lid, four latches, the drain plug, two port caps, and a roll of Teflon tape for the port threads. For upkeep:

  • Keep it covered. The lid keeps out heat, leaves, and dust.
  • Filter or change the water. With the filtration system, change the filter every 3 to 6 months depending on use. Without it, change the water more often.
  • Clean the shell monthly. The smooth molded interior wipes down easily.
  • Drain with a plan. The plug empties 100 gallons where the tub stands, so a yard or floor drain nearby helps.
  • Protect it from freezing. Outdoors in a cold winter, drain it or keep a chiller running so the water never freezes solid.

Tub only or the complete system?

The Frozin 400 Cold Plunge Tub is the tub, lid, and fittings, at a list price of $999. The Frozin Complete Cold Plunge System adds the chiller, the filtration system, and every hose and fitting, at a list price of $2,049.99, which costs less than buying the three pieces separately. Choose the tub if you want to start with ice, already own a chiller, or want to spread the cost. Choose the system if you want to plunge at a set temperature from day one with nothing else to buy. List prices are as of October 2026; a promotion may be running, and the product page is the source of truth.

What owners say

The reviews on the product page keep coming back to the same few points: the tub holds the cold, it is roomy for tall people, it goes together quickly, and the ports make adding a chiller simple. Read them on the Frozin 400 page.

Who should buy something else

  • You need to pack it away between seasons. A rigid tub is built to stay set up. An inflatable plunge folds into a bag; our portable cold plunge guide compares the formats.
  • You want built in filtration and ozone with a single power cord. A fully integrated plunge costs more but hides every hose. Compare the options in the cold plunge collection.
  • You have nowhere that can take about 925 pounds. Check the floor before you buy any 100 gallon tub.

Using it well

Start warmer than you think, around 50 to 59 °F, for 2 to 3 minutes, and work down over weeks. Two to four sessions a week is a common rhythm, and consistency matters more than how cold or how long. Never plunge alone, never after alcohol, and talk to a clinician first if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or are pregnant. The cold plunge guide covers temperatures, timing, and the evidence, and contrast therapy covers pairing cold with heat. Kove does not provide medical advice; see the medical disclaimer.

Can you pay with HSA or FSA?

Cold plunges can qualify with a Letter of Medical Necessity, decided per order by an independent licensed provider through Truemed at checkout. Details on the HSA and FSA page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Frozin 400 worth it?

If you want a rigid, insulated tub that stays set up and can grow from ice to a chiller, yes: it gives you insulation, room for tall adults, and chiller ports at a tub only price. If you need something that packs away, an inflatable suits you better.

How big is the Frozin 400?

48 by 28 by 28 inches outside, 100 gallons inside, 90 pounds empty, and about 925 pounds when filled.

How cold does the Frozin 400 get?

With ice, as cold as the ice you add and your climate allow, held longer thanks to the foam. With the Frozin Chiller, you set anywhere from 37 to 60 °F and it holds that temperature.

Does the Frozin 400 come with a chiller?

The tub on its own does not. The Frozin Complete Cold Plunge System includes the tub, chiller, filtration, and all hoses.

Can I use my own chiller?

Yes. The 3/4 inch IN and OUT ports connect to virtually any chiller on the market.

Can the Frozin 400 go outside?

Yes. The shell is UV resistant and the lid latches down. In freezing weather, drain it or keep a chiller running.

How tall can you be to use the Frozin 400?

It is built for people up to 6 feet 3 inches and 300 pounds.

Where is the Frozin 400 made?

In the USA, from a roto molded shell.
