What this test measures

DNA methylation is a chemical marking on your DNA that shifts with age, environment and how you live. The laboratory reads over a million of these sites from your sample, then runs both the age clocks and the biomarker estimates across them. Both tests run from the same sample, so there is nothing extra to do and nothing extra to post.

How to read your result

An epigenetic clock gives an estimate, not a verdict. Published work has found that epigenetic age readings shift measurably across a single day, so the same person can return different numbers depending on when they collected. That comes from the biology being read. The laboratory itself is highly repeatable: TruDiagnostic reports intraclass correlation coefficients of 0.96 for DunedinPACE and approximately 0.9975 for OMICmAge. The instrument is precise; the thing it measures moves.

The biomarker half deserves its own caveat. Those are epigenetic estimates of marker levels, not direct measurements of the markers themselves. TruDiagnostic's own position is that they are intended to support clinical judgment and not to replace it, and should not be the sole basis for any diagnosis or treatment decision. Treat the panel as a map of where to look, and take anything that concerns you to your doctor.

Two things follow. Treat a single result as a starting point. And when you retest, collect at roughly the same time of day as your first sample, so you are comparing like with like.

GlycanAge reads glycans on your antibodies, a marker of chronic inflammation that tends to move within months of a real change in how you live. This reads DNA methylation, which gives a broader picture with organ level detail and suits an annual baseline. The two are measuring different biology, so they will not agree, and neither number is the correct one. They are two views of the same person.

What happens to your sample

TruDiagnostic processes your sample and holds your results on their platform. When you register your kit you will be asked to accept TruDiagnostic's terms, which grant them a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, sublicensable and transferable license over the data derived from your sample, including use in product development and the training of AI systems, and that consent survives deletion of your account.
